Psion's Workabout Pro Earns Apriva Certification for Secure Government Communications

CINCINNATI, OHIO and SCOTTSDALE, AZ - (September 13, 2011) Psion (LSE: PON.L), a global provider of mobile computing solutions, and Apriva, the leading provider of end-to-end wireless transaction and secure mobile communications solutions, today announced that the Psion Workabout Pro™ 3 and Workabout Pro-g have earned Apriva's compatibility certification. Running on Windows Mobile 6.1, the Workabout Pro 3 and Workabout Pro-g have completed Apriva's integration and testing with its secure mobile communications products deployed to government and public agencies around the world.

Apriva integrated and tested the Workabout Pro with its Apriva CSPware™ and Apriva Guard™ middleware to ensure compatibility with all government-issued FIPS 201 certified smartcards or common access cards (CACs). The Workabout Pro has also been validated to comply with the government's security technical implementation guide (STIG) standards for how devices are protected. This requires that data be encrypted and the device locked down when not in use, making it nearly impossible to compromise. 

Apriva's technology is used by the U.S. government to secure mobile communications for classified and unclassified email and other data. The Company's BT200 smartcard reader and PKI authentication software are used on handheld terminals deployed by government agencies to inventory sensitive assets from commissary items to advanced weapons. 

Psion's rugged handheld computers have been used by the U.S. government for applications such as homeland security at the nation's borders, ports and airports, as well as military applications. The fit and flexibility, along with the layered security of the Workabout Pro, make it ideal for use in all environments for government sector partners and customers at any level including federal, state and local.
